... I hope someone can help me with this mystery. This will take a bit to explain. A few weeks ago, I tried to install XP and my system was very unhappy. I got the BSOD several times and after the system rebooted, there was a message that stated that there was a problem with my HDD and it needed to be "examined".

Slow boot mystery
Also, the last time this happened, I got a BSOD with invalid page fault (i think) called from "VXD ---" at address blah blah (yes, I know I should have written it down). Any clue as to what or where "VXD ---" would be. I've searched for "*.vxd" & "*vxd*.*" & can't find it. The mystery deepens.

Mystery BSOD - what is causing this?
I tried drivers from this site for XP: http://x3dfx.da.ru/ And they seemed to work perfectly (although I did not try them on a whole lot of games), other than the fact that if I alt-tabbed out and tried to return I would get the BSOD. New A7N8XED board has BSOD problems
I do have the minidump, and I thought there was a way to analyze it to see if there was a specific driver responsible for the crash. I can't look at the bluescreen. I have it set to NOT reboot on crash, but it still does. Every machine I've ever ran Win2000 on was set to not reboot on BSOD, but they all do.

NT Freeze Mystery
But older OS doesn't necessarily mean older MB - I've got a fairly new MB (Asus K8V Deluxe) and still choose Win2k over XP (I have XP on my laptop) - and will, for the forseeable future (unless I switch to Linux). jmc Just thought I would answer the mystery for everyone. The system is a couple years old but that is

Why Linux is better than Windows from a newbies perspective ...
However, upon trying to boot into Windows I got a very rare BSOD with the error message of "INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR". - It did this every time I tried to boot the system. Finally, I gave up and formatted the C:\ drive and reinstalled Windows. It booted into the system fine, and everything seems to work well.

HDD Mystery
When I tried once to increase the amount after adding the new ram, it gave me a BSOD. Still not sure why though. This delay problem began before the defrag. I only noiticed the large area of grren on the right handside of the display bar when I did the defrag and then I started to put things together, possibly.
